Content Management
Nocturne ships with Decap CMS — a browser-based editor at /admin/.
This section shows you how to edit every part of your site without touching code.
What You Can Edit
| Section | Guide |
|---|---|
| Homepage | Home Page → |
| Navbar | Navbar → |
| Footer | Footer → |
| Sidebar Widgets | Widgets → |
| Documentation | Docs → |
| Blog Posts | Blog → |
How It Works
Decap CMS reads and writes to JSON files in src/data/ and Markdown files in docs/, blog/, and src/pages/.
When you click Save:
- The file updates on disk
- The dev server rebuilds
- Your browser refreshes
In local mode, changes stay on your computer. In cloud mode, they commit to GitHub.
What You Need
- Node.js 18+ — installed
- Nocturne — running locally
- A browser — any modern browser
The Two Terminals
To use the CMS locally, you need two terminals:
Terminal 1 — Decap server:
npx decap-server
Terminal 2 — Dev server:
npm start
Then open:
http://localhost:3000/admin/index.html
See Setup → for details.
Limitations
Decap CMS cannot:
- Create new folders in
docs/ - Create new
_category_.jsonfiles - Edit
docusaurus.config.ts - Edit
sidebars.ts
These must be done manually in code. See Limits → for details.
